The Little RV Leaves for Arkansas Tomorrow

I've been very, very lazy about writing this week.  I find it hard to come up with a post when we are sitting still.  We spend today getting ready to leave.  When we have been parked in one place for a while things get out of hand in here.  I end up having to rearrange things and get everything that isn't stuck down, put away.  I also like to make sure all of the laundry is done and the sheets are changed.  Yeah, nuts I know, but that's just me.

Outside we checked the tires and put air in one of the newer ones.  It was about 12 lbs. low.   Not a good way to start our trip.  We'll have to keep an eye on it.  It's the one we bought in Florida after we had the big slash in our sidewall.  It only has about 1000 miles on it.

Tomorrow's destination is Springdale, Arkansas.  We have an appointment on Tuesday morning to begin our repairs.  We have been discussing whether to have a new tank monitoring system installed.  There is a monitor system called SeeLevel that comes highly recommended.  It certainly would be nice to know how full the tanks are.  We'll talk to the repair shop and see if that is an option since they'll have the whole tank area torn apart.

We are still planning on purchasing new tires for the RV.  It seems fairly clear that the tires that came with the Little RV are not adequate for the weight of the it.  We are planning to go up to a G rated tire.  We currently have an E rated tire that is only 10 ply and both of our problems have been sidewall problems.

All I see right now are dollar signs...how about you?

  1. Wheels RV should treat you really well. I have heard good things about them and we have visited their lot on several occasions when we were looking for a fifth wheel. Just didn't find what we were looking for when we were looking.

The Fayetteville, Rogers, Bentonville, and Siloam Springs areas are some of our favorite places to go on weekends for a day trip. John Brown University in Siloam Springs is a really nice campus and their chapel is quaint and nice. The University of Arkansas is a really nice campus. I like to walk through the buildings. The Crystal Bridges museum has some really nice pieces of art and the grounds are filled with trails that have different sculptures nestled in sitting areas and along the trails.

Both the farmer's markets in Fayetteville and Bentonville are a lot of fun to meander through on a Saturday.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Arkansas and please pardon the cold weather we are experiencing. It is definitely not the norm and we should be back to norm spring weather in a few days. That is if we don't go right into summer heat which has been known to happen in May before.

    Safe travels.

    1. We appreciate all of the information you provided. It's beautiful here and we plan to explore the area while the repairs are being done. I'm more than happy with the cool weather. We spent a lot of time in hot, humid weather during April. I lived in Arkansas for a few years as a child but I don't remember it very well.
      Thanks again!

  2. You're timing's good. We arrived in Springdale last week to take delivery of our 5er and have been staying at The Creeks Golf Resort and RV Park for a week-long shake down of our new rig. The weather's been cold and wet, but things are warming up and drying off over the next few days. It should be nice.

By the way, we've been really pleased with Wheels RV. The service manager Mark and his team are easy to get along with and seem very conscientious about their work.

    Safe travels.

    1. Sally,
I'm so glad you wrote. We just arrived at The Creeks as well. We would have been here earlier but I checked the weather here and we decided to stay in Texas for a couple of extra days. It was dry there! Maybe we'll see you at some point. I just did a quick tour of your blog and added it to our blog list so we can follow along. It looks like we have the same truck only ours is blue. Did you see our truck crushing post back in September? You are not alone. Hope to meet you before you have to take off.

    2. Your episode with "The Crusher" sounds startlingly familiar. It's good to know there are others out there who share that experience. Maybe we can start a club and get t-shirts. :)

Leonard, Sprocket and I are here until Wednesday. We'll watch for you. Of course, feel free to drop by - space #56 - and bring Grant!
