Docked nearby was the USS Alabama. The Alabama was commissioned in 1942 and served in World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. We also saw the USS Drum, a submarine from the same time period.
There were also a number of aircraft and tanks.
We drove on into downtown Mobile. This building caught our attention because the architecture is so beautiful. The building is used as a regional planning office.
After checking out the city we drove to Dauphin Island. Dauphin Island is on the west side of Mobile Bay.There island is very small but very beautiful.
Fort Gaines is located at the very end of the island.
More photos of the fort.
Tomorrow we're off to Mississippi!
